After a recent donation of gardening equipment courtesy of Barnes & Sons, Maureen received this lovely letter fo thanks.
“On behalf of the Wendell Park Gardening Friends, many thanks for your most generous donation of tools for the group. Quite a few of our volunteers do not have their own forks or trowels and these are going to be invaluable for both adults and children alike during our regular volunteer sessions. It was really thoughtful of you to provide watering cans and particularly small ones for children as the pupils of Wendell Park School have grown flowers from seed and also planted tomatoes and sunflowers in their Cobbold Road bed and during the warmer summer months will now be able to water them regularly. One thing we did not have was a broom, we now have two which means after a busy day weeding and tidying the south border we can sweep up and leave the pathway looking neat.
The many volunteers who have dug and planted, weeded, snipped and watered have all done magnificent work over the past two years and the amount of complimentary comments we receive from users of Wendell Park is so rewarding and makes all those aching backs worthwhile.
Please convey our thanks to Barnes and Sons for their support of the group and a very sincere thank you to you, Maureen, for all you have done for Wendell Park Gardening Friends which is greatly appreciated.
With warmest good wishes,
Chair of Wendell Park Gardening Friends”
